Bill of sale and title transfer
Registration is the number on the bow. A title, in states that issue one, is the ownership record. A bill of sale is the receipt. The national guide walks through that difference, including Coast Guard form CG-1340 for a documented boat, and links each state page.

Registration questions
Which states have a boat registration page here?
Florida, Texas, California, New York, Michigan, North Carolina, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Maine. Other states are not on this site yet. Each page links the state agency that actually registers the boat.
Are these boat registration fees official?
The dollar amounts are copied from the state statute or the agency page linked on that state screen, and the date they were checked is printed there. They are a summary, not a bill. Service fees, sales tax, and excise tax are included only when that official page stated them.
Where do I learn about a boat bill of sale?
The Boat bill of sale and title transfer guide explains a bill of sale, how it differs from a title and a registration, and when a Coast Guard documented boat uses form CG-1340. It is not legal advice. The state page is where you file.
